Ginger Geezus Saves by Ralph Renna

The recipe of rock consists of four simple ingredients, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Serve it up hot and sticky and everyone will break bread with you. Ginger Geezus preserve and embrace the spirit of Rock and the roll. Pedal to the metal 100 miles an hour and playing live, winning over crowds immediately. The Freight Train demo was released, the gigs got bigger and everyone was praising Geezus. Performances at Powers Park in Troy Last Summer, followed up by The Glove Theatre in Gloversville and The Cohoes Music Hall. Ginger Geezus also picked up a Listen Up Award and were a featured live act on WMHT TV. We have a good feeling they will be rocking a river or arena near you real soon. WABY was invited to band practice as the band was getting ready for their show at Rustic Barn Pub in Troy This Friday April 25.

WABY:  1 We have been asking listeners to write “What were the albums that changed your life”?
Alex Riddell:  Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin.  Awesome album, especially In My Time Of Dying

Austin Nicholsen:  At Filmore East - Allman Brothers.  Great live album that has the best performance of One Way Out

James Juron:  Live At Woodtock - Jimi Hendrix.  You know why!

Matty D:  Superunknown ,Soundgarden.  Chris Cornell and the boys at the height of their powers, weird tunings, great vocals, has a real edge to it.

WABY: The band has been climbing the mountain quick. Every show seems like a celebration. How does it feel for you guys elaborate?

GG: Our bassist Austin Nicholsen keeps saying "The Universe is on our side", that's how it feels.  Feels like our community and the world is aching for some old school rock n roll with a modern edge to it, and we're here to bring just that!  It seems there has been a clear upward trajectory to the shows, venues, and opportunities we've been given and we're looking to keep that up.  In short, every show seems like a celebration because to us, IT IS!!

WABY:  What led you back to the Rustic Barn this weekend ?

GG:  The Rustic is a staple on our music scene.  Brian Kane calls it The Center Of The Universe.  The owners Jody and Jay are great people, and musicians themselves, who really support the scene.  Matty is a regular at their Thursday Open Mic which is a great talent showcase.  Also, up in that barn, the wood sounds good!

WABY: Is the band have any type of ritual whether it comes to rehearsals studio or live shows?

GG:  Mostly just Genny Cream Ale.

WABY:  5 new music, more original music or do you see yourselves being more of a cover band?

GG:  More originals for sure!  And more covers as well, from the bands and artists that inspire us.  The priority is concentrating on our first full length studio album which should be out late this year or early next.  Maybe in time to make an ideal stocking stuffer!
