During those first couple of months, we were practicing and performing mostly covers from common influences like, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Pearl Jam, but ultimately, one of our strengths together as we’ve developed has been the diversity of influences that show through in our playing once we rounded out as a three-piece.

From Dave Matthews to Kublai Khan, Grateful Dead to Gojira, or Dispatch to Meshuggah, the broadness of our listening backgrounds is critical to our goal of sounding original, distinct, and unconstrained by definitions of sub-genres

The new EP “Beyond My Reach” dropped this month. It’s got that stoner-rock groove, heavy riffs and strong lyrical themes. What went into the recording process, and how did it help you grow as a band?

The recording process involved a lot of maturing as a band - we rearranged, rewrote, and cut whole songs in a difficult but necessary process to ensure the final product was the best representation of who we are. Several months of early mornings and late nights went into the demoing, tracking, and mixing of the EP, and through this we were challenged to zero in on what was most valuable to us musically, as well as what we envisioned going forward for our sound.

Live music is really picking up as the weather gets nicer. What do you guys have planned as we warm up and head into summer?

We’re very excited to play Ophelia’s for the first time on May 1st to kick off the season, and we can’t wait for our set at MindBlown Festival on June 27th, we have some friends on the bill and the event looks like a ton of fun! Y’all gotta get some 2XL shirts up on your merch, us metal-heads are big dudes. As a new band, how do you handle merch? Do you have local connections or is it outsourced?

To any fellow up-and-comers on a budget reading this: you won’t need too many small sizes in your inventory, save your money and invest in bigger sizes! A rookie mistake as we learn this industry through experience. While we handle sales ourselves, we have a semi-local connection with a small printing company from Greene County (A Few Guys Signs) who’ve done a great job with our shirts. With the release of our EP, we’ll be adding new items to our merch table with designs inspired by the cover art, with 2XL’s available of course!

The Albany metal scene is strong and continually growing, with great venues and a ton of talent. Between things like theWABY gig guide and Capital Underground, there are plenty of ways to get your name out there. Who are some bands you would like to work with in the area?

This scene is filled with some truly fantastic bands: we’ve followed Flatwounds since their Drain EP and caught a few of their wild sets - opening for them and their fans would be huge for us! We’re also big fans of Casket and would love to work with them, and we’ve recently been checking out Vaexus, their energy is sick and a bill with them would be a great fit. Working with KAKOS and GUTS in previous shows was a blast, they’re two of our favorite bands in the scene and we’re always ready to play with them again!

Link up with Sons of Eden

https://linktr.ee/sonsofeden
