1989 I bought two puma tattoo machines from Huck Spaulding and his wife at their Voorheesville tattoo supply company.  A liner tube and shader tube, a five pack of liner needles and a five pack of seven flat shader needles with the protective rubber dipped coating on the needle tips. The big black power supply. Some black ink and a few colors ,ink caps and I was on my way.<\/p>\n\n

1990 Full Effect Tattooing was established. After many years of tattooing around the capital region, working many tattoo conventions like the AM- Jam tattoo convention in Schenectady and cobleskill upstate N.Y. ,NYC Roseland ballroom tattoo convention , Mario Barthes New Jersey tattoo convention, Spaulding and Roger’s tattoo convention just to name a few. Along with my son Matt tattooing with me since 2008 and are now family owned and operated business. FULL EFFECT TATTOO prefers custom tattoos, but offers traditional tattoo flash design or clients reference ideas. I’m a second generation tattoo artist taught by my father Don Demers in 2008 at Full Effect Tattoo in Troy NY. I remember being 11 and my father asking me if I wanted to tattoo him along with what I liked to draw. After not being happy with a shark I wanted to tattoo we settled on a cross with a bunch of straight lines. So you can imagine how that turned out. <\/p>\n\n

A few years later around the age of 14-15 I jumped into the hardcore scene. I noticed the majority of people were heavily tattooed and thought “well my old man tattoos, I got this”. I did a couple stick and pokes on my leg along with a bunch of friends over the years. During highschool id travel down to Kansas City Missouri to hang out with an old friend. <\/p>\n\n

He somehow acquired a tattoo machine so I did what any logical thinking kid would do, I started scratching up the Kansas City hardcore scene in a living room. A few years later during my senior year of high school I started hanging around the shop cleaning and answering the phone. <\/p>\n\n

This eventually led into my apprenticeship. Over the last 18 years of tattooing I’ve touched on almost all styles but I find myself leaning more towards black and grey for a number of reasons. Holler for an appointment and come find out for yourself.  -Matt Demers<\/p>\n\n
